In Music Dance Theatre, the music should provide the reason and the context for other forms of artistic expression to evolve. The music forms the axis upon, around and through which the human body expresses the world it carries within. Music replaces what would have been expressed through conventional speech. It is as if it happens in the brain and the senses of the stage performer, formulating and projecting conscious and subconscious thoughts, feelings, and (re) actions. This is the Theatre of Sound.

ANTIGONE

A Music Choro-Dramatic Act

a compilation of extracts from two different productions of the work.
(a) Gorlitz – Germany and (b) Athens Concert Hall.

«… “Christos Pittas created a music score for Voice, Music Instruments and Electronic Sound. The mighty presence of powerful percussion and the voice of Spyros Sakkas as ‘Choros’ created an atmosphere of fear and threat. The emotionally charged music provided the ideal setting to the dancers but also for the dramatic confrontation between Creon and Antigone (actors) and Choros which was also musically expressed”.

Bernd Klempsnow, Sachsische Zeitung

«In “Spring” the role of music is not to ‘accompany’ the movement. The music is the alter ego of the stage performers. It is within them and their bodies respond to it in various, often unexpected ways.
